A Celebration Marking the 33rd Anniversary of Armenia's Independence at the Embassy
On the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the Republic of Armenia's independence, a reception was held at the Armenian Embassy, attended by representatives from various ministries of the Federal Government, the Bundestag, as well as leaders from business, academia, public, and diplomatic circles.
The event featured welcoming speeches by the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Viktor Yengibaryan, and the Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture of Germany, Mr. Cem Özdemir.
In his address, Ambassador Yengibaryan outlined Armenia’s foreign policy priorities, key security issues, and economic opportunities. He emphasized, “We see regional peace, the primacy of international law, democracy, fundamental human rights, and our integration into regional and international structures as the cornerstone of our independence.” The Ambassador also reiterated Armenia’s commitment to upholding international law.
In his speech, Federal Minister Özdemir praised Armenia's efforts toward closer ties with the European Union and commended the Armenian Government’s "Crossroads of Peace" initiative. “Your active pursuit of dialogue is clearly demonstrated by the ‘Crossroads of Peace’ project. This initiative goes beyond infrastructure and economic development—it aims to build bridges and strengthen connections in the region, not just physically, but through exchanges between people, businesses, and state institutions. Such projects provide hope for a peaceful future in the region and deserve our full support."
During the reception, the national anthems of Armenia, Germany, and the European Union were performed by Ms. Ani Aghabekyan (violin), Mr. Daniel Bollinger (clarinet), Mr. Stefano Macor (viola), and Mr. Kirill Timofeev (cello).
The event was also attended by Ms. Sirarpi Movsisyan, Head of the Consular Office of the Honorary Consulate of Armenia in Saxony.
